Gratitude

by | May 21, 2026

When I was 28, and hoping to be pregnant, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had the tumor removed, and underwent chemotherapy and radiation and thought it was behind me. 1.5 years later, while pregnant, I had a reoccurrence  which resulted in a mastectomy.  Then, when my baby was 3 weeks old it was discovered to have metastasized to my lungs. This started me down the path of multiple surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy. I am proud to say that this summer I will celebrate 30 years of living with cancer and in the fall it will be 28 years of living with stage IV breast cancer. It is due to fundraisers such as The 11 Day Power Play that helps to fund important research, that I am here today. I am grateful for those who skate, and who donate. Thank you, it makes a difference in so many lives!
