Amy Lesakowski with the latest update from the 11 Day Power Play on WBEN

Nov 17, 2021

Amy Lesakowski catches up with WBEN on Day 4 of the 11 Day Power Play.

The Frozen 40 are setting out to break the Guinness World Record again this year, but this year there are a few extra challenges.  Not only is the event taking place outside(like the current record holders in Alberta, Canada) at Buffalo Riverworks, but the 11 Day Power Play needs to follow all NHL rules.  This means instead of having just 2 refs (like they did year 1), they need 4 refs on the ice at all times.  The 11 Day Power Play also needs to keep 2 witnesses in the score box 24×7, and upload documentation and video footage every day at 2:30 am.  On Day 11 an official Guinness judge will be at the game for a full 8 hours to determine if they get the record or not.

Days 3 and 4 are often the most difficult, and although there are a few injuries, everyone is holding up pretty well.  Surprise visits from Alex Tuch, Marty Biron, Dominik Hasek and Josh Allen boosted the players spirits on some of the most difficult days.

It’s 252 hours of hockey and a fundraiser, so how can you help?
